Merits of Sūrat al-Kawthar

  1. Imam al-Ṣādiq (a) is reported to have said: ‘Whoever recites Sūrat al-Kawthar in their obligatory and recommended prayers, God will quench their thirst from the pond of Kawthar[1] on the Day of Judgement.’
  2. Prophet Muhammad (s) is reported to have said: ‘Whoever recites it, God will quench them from the rivers of paradise and will recompense them with rewards as many as the number of every sacrifice which the servants of God make on the day of Eid al-Aḍḥā, together with those sacrifices which are of the People of the Book and the pagans.’[2]
[1] In a narration reported from Prophet Muhammad (s), Kawthar is a river with abundant goodness in paradise (Safi, 8/352-353).
