سُورَةُ لقمان

About this chapter

This surah is named Sūrat Luqmān due to the occurrence of this name in it and because it contains the discussion of Luqmān and his wise counsels. It does not have any other name, and it is the only surah that talks about this wise man. It consists of thirty-four verses (excluding the basmalah) and is of Meccan provenance as attested by its contents.

The introduction sets out when the chapter came and what it addresses; the merits gather what the narrations say of reading it. Both are written as units of the tafsir, with their own footnotes.
