Al-Wāqiʿah 56:69
Exegesis
Al-muzn is the plural of al-muznah, meaning cloud. It is sometimes specifically defined as bright clouds or rain-clouds.1 The usage of different names and descriptions for clouds in the Quran (such as muzn, saḥāb, ghamām, ʿāriḍ, etc.) could be against a common tendency to disregard this phenomenon on the account that they are simply clouds and that is all there is to it. Rather, there is a lot to the phenomenon of clouds; there are many aspects associated with them which should be looked into and pondered upon. Muzn has also been interpreted as samāʾ (sky, heaven) by Ibn Abbas and Sufyān al-Thawrī.2
