عَلَيهِم نارٌ مُؤصَدَةٌ

[Imposed] upon them will be a closed fire.

EXEGESIS

Muʾṣadah (closed) means to be covered over, as such it indicates that these individuals will be entangled in the hellfire with layers of fire above them.^{‎[1]Tabrisi, 10/751.} Another opinion, attributed to Muqātil, is that it means locked upon them, and thus the verse seems to emphasise that these people will have no way out of hellfire.^{‎[2]Tabrisi, 10/751; Fadlallah, 24/276.}
