Merits of Sūrat al-ʿAlaq‎

Ubayy ibn Kaʿb reports the Prophet as having said: ‘Whoever recites it, is as if he has recited all of the mufaṣṣal surahs.’[1] The mufaṣṣal surahs are identified as those from Sūrah Muhammad till the end of the Quran.

The Messenger of God said: ‘Whoever recites it at the door of [his] storehouse shall have Allah secure it from every blight and theft till its owner himself removes the contents.’[2]

Ṣadūq reports in his work Thawāb al-Aʿmāl from Imam al-Ṣādiq (a) who said: ‘Whoever recites the surah iqraʾ bi-smi rabbik alladhī khalaq … during the day or night and then dies that day or night, dies a martyr, and Allah shall resurrect him a martyr; He shall revive him as one who struck out with his sword in the service of Allah with the Messenger of Allah (s).’[3]

Imam al-Ṣādiq (a) is attributed to have said: ‘Whoever recites it while seaborne shall be safe and secure from drowning and other dangers, and shall be in the protection of Allah, the exalted.’[4]
