Several reports have been mentioned regarding its merits:
- From Ubayy ibn Kaʿb, that the Prophet said: ‘Whoever recites Sūrat al-Ṭalāq will die upon the sunnah of the Messenger of God (s).’
- Abū Baṣīr reports from Imam al-Ṣādiq (a): ‘Whoever recites Sūrat al-Ṭalāq and al-Taḥrīm in the daily prayers, God will protect him on the Day of Judgement from being amongst those who fear or are saddened, and he will be protected from the fire, and God will make him enter paradise because of his continuous recitation of them, since these two are for the Prophet (s).’
Obviously, as the second narration points out, the merit of the recitation is only achieved when one also safe keeps the message of the surah by continuously applying it in one’s life, meaning one lives by it and acts according to its teachings.
