أَرَأَيتَ إِن كانَ عَلَى الهُدىٰ

أَو أَمَرَ بِالتَّقوىٰ

Have you seen whether he is rightly guided,

or encourages true piety?

EXPOSITION

The narrative continues and Prophet Muhammad (s) is addressed in reference to the unnamed bully, Have you considered [O Muhammad] whether he [who forbids prayer] is rightly guided, ¹²or encourages true piety [in what he does]? Of course the response is elided since it is self-evident.
