Al-Muzzammil · Enwrapped
سُورَةُ المزمل
About this chapter
Sūrat al-Muzzammil is the seventy-third chapter of the Quran according to the current sequence. It is a Meccan surah where the bulk of its verses were revealed in Mecca, and its last verse descended in Medina. Scholars of the Quran have made the observation that Meccan verses generally tend to be short, whereas Medinan verses tend to be long (although exceptions exist for this general rule).
The introduction sets out when the chapter came and what it addresses; the merits gather what the narrations say of reading it. Both are written as units of the tafsir, with their own footnotes.

- 8 So celebrate the name of your Lord and dedicate yourself to Him with total dedication.

- 11 Leave Me [to deal] with the deniers, the opulent, and give them a little respite.
- 12 Indeed with Us are heavy fetters and a fierce fire.
- 13 And a food that chokes [those who gulp it], and a painful punishment.
- 14 The day when the earth and the mountains will quake, and the mountains will be like dunes of shifting sand.
- 15 Indeed We have sent to you an apostle, to be a witness to you, just as We sent an apostle to Pharaoh.
- 16 But Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a terrible seizing.
- 17–18 So, if you disbelieve, how will you avoid the day which will make children white-headed,
- 19 This is indeed a reminder. So let anyone who wishes take the way toward his Lord.
- 20 Indeed your Lord knows that you stand vigil nearly two-thirds of the night – or [at times] a half or a third of it – along with a group of…
