Al-Inshiqāq · The Splitting

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1. 84:1

   إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ ﴿١﴾

   When the sky is split open.

2. 84:2

   وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ ﴿٢﴾

   And gives ear to its Lord as it should.

3. 84:3

   وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ ﴿٣﴾

   When the earth is spread out.

4. 84:4

   وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ ﴿٤﴾

   And throws out what is in it, emptying itself,

5. 84:5

   وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ ﴿٥﴾

   and gives ear to its Lord as it should.

6. 84:6

   يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ ﴿٦﴾

   O man! You are labouring toward your Lord laboriously, and you will encounter Him.

7. 84:7

   فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ﴿٧﴾

   Then as for him who is given his record in his right hand.

8. 84:8

   فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا ﴿٨﴾

   He shall soon receive an easy reckoning.

9. 84:9

   وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ﴿٩﴾

   And he will return to his folks joyfully.

10. 84:10

    وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ ﴿١٠﴾

    But as for him who is given his record from behind his back.

11. 84:11

    فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا ﴿١١﴾

    He will pray for annihilation.

12. 84:12

    وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا ﴿١٢﴾

    And he will enter the blaze.

13. 84:13

    إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ﴿١٣﴾

    Indeed he used to be joyful among his folk.

14. 84:14

    إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ ﴿١٤﴾

    And indeed he thought he would never return.

15. 84:15

    بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا ﴿١٥﴾

    Yes indeed, his Lord sees him best.

16. 84:16

    فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ ﴿١٦﴾

    So I swear by the evening glow,

17. 84:17

    وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ﴿١٧﴾

    by the night and what it is fraught with,

18. 84:18

    وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ ﴿١٨﴾

    by the moon when it blooms full.

19. 84:19

    لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ ﴿١٩﴾

    You will surely fare from stage to stage.

20. 84:20

    فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿٢٠﴾

    So what is the matter with them that they will not believe?

21. 84:21

    وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ﴿٢١﴾

    And when the Quran is recited to them they will not prostrate?

22. 84:22

    بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿٢٢﴾

    Rather, the faithless deny,

23. 84:23

    وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ ﴿٢٣﴾

    and Allah knows best what they keep to themselves.

24. 84:24

    فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ﴿٢٤﴾

    So warn them of a painful punishment,

25. 84:25

    إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ ﴿٢٥﴾

    except such as are faithful and do righteous deeds: there will be an everlasting reward for them.
