Merits of Sūrat al-Qiyāmah

  1. From Ubayy ibn Kaʿb, that the Prophet said: ‘Whoever recites Sūrat al-Qiyāmah, Gabriel and I will bear witness for him on the Day of Resurrection that he believed in the Day of Resurrection, and he will come with the most radiant of faces on the Day of Resurrection.’[1]
  2. From Abū Baṣīr, that Imam al-Ṣādiq (a) said: ‘Whoever regularly recites Lā Uqsimu [Sūrat al-Qiyāmah] and acts upon it, God will raise it with him in his grave on the Day of Resurrection in the most beautiful form, bringing him glad tidings and smiling in his face, until he completes [the stages of] the bridge (ṣirāṭ) [over hell] and the scales (mīzān) [of accounting].’[2]

The second narration is especially noteworthy as it explicitly mentions the point we have constantly emphasised regarding the merits of reciting surahs, namely that such rewards are reserved for those who regularly recite the surah and act upon it.[3]
