- From Ubayy ibn Kaʿb from the Prophet: ‘One who recites this surah will have an easy accounting with God [on Judgement Day].’
- From Abū Baṣīr, from Imam al-Ṣādiq (a): ‘One who habitually recites this surah in his obligatory or optional prayers will be enveloped (ghashshāhu) by God in His mercy, in this world and the next, and He will grant him safety on the Day of Resurrection from the torment of the fire.’
It is understood amongst Muslim scholars that such traditions and reports on the merits of reciting surahs are intended for one who not only recites and memorises them, but also contemplates on their verses and acts on them as a way of life.
